Welcome to the City Wound Care Center.

City Wound Care Center was started by Dr. Lawrence Silverberg. Dr. Silverberg has been practicing podiatry since 2000 in New York City. He is well trained in podiatric medicine and surgery. He spent many years working in multiple wound care centers. He also started and ran a large group practice. He started the City Wound Care Center in 2018 after selling his group practice where he specialized in foot surgery.

Prior to the City Wound Care Center, Dr. Silverberg was one of three doctors of podiatric medicine that ran the Cabrini Wound Healing Center for many years before that hospital closed due to the loss of state funding. Dr. Silverberg is an expert in wound healing. He utilizes the latest technology and medicine including conservative and surgical measures to get non-healing wounds to heal. He is currently on staff at Gramercy Surgery Center in Manhattan, Midtown Surgery Center in Manhattan, and is in the process of obtaining hospital privileges at Northwell Health Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. Prior, he was a staff physician at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, Mt. Sinai Hospital of Queens, St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx and Westchester Square Hospital in the Bronx. At the Cabrini Wound Healing Center Dr. Silverberg excelled with a very impressive rate of healing. He currently and previously specialized in wounds associated with: arterial and venous wounds, burns, diabetic foot and leg ulcers, edema and lymph edema wounds, surgical dehiscence and non healing incision wounds, pressure wounds, radiation wounds, traumatic wounds, and any wound that needs additional treatments to heal.

Dr. Silverberg trained at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx for a one-year podiatric medical residency. He subsequently went on to do a two-year surgical residency and act as chief resident, at the prestigious Parkview Hospital Surgical Residency in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from the Temple School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree in 1997. Both of Dr. Silverberg’s residencies provided extensive training in advance wound care techniques with over one hundred attending physicians in multiple specialties.

Dr. Silverberg is in the process of expanding the City Wound Care Center. Currently, we only treat wounds below the knee. Once we acquire our new larger facility, we will treat wounds of the entire body. Dr. Silverberg is currently in the process of teaming up with other wound care specialists to expand the wound care center. We are working with doctors that are specialists in vascular, plastics, internal medicine, endocrinology, hyperbaric oxygen, infectious disease, general surgery, nutritionists, dietitians, and orthopedics. We will have hyperbaric oxygen chambers, vitamin infusions, operating room debridements, negative pressure sound VAC therapy, Sanuwave DermaPace Procedures, and hospital admission to Lenox Hill Hospital. With literally 1000’s of choices for dressing materials we use the most advanced types that are best for each individual patient. We have pharmacy partners that deliver your supplies and medications for no additional charge. We will work with your insurance to provide for home care and visiting nurses when necessary.

We accept multiple insurance plans including Medicare, with the exception of Medicaid. When you call please inquire with one of our patient care specialists to ensure your insurance is accepted.

Physicians: We gladly accept your referrals and will get your patients in to our facility quickly. We provide regular updates on the status of your patients and then send them back to you once they are healed. We accept you postoperative complications and wound healing problems.
